So who exactly would really want a short-term health insurance policy and why? Since it seems, of all types of insurance, health insurance requirements do seem to be a long term matter on the surface. The fact, is that you may be surprised at the effective number of people who find themselves in demand of a short term coverage at some stage in their life-time.

Recent college alumni are the first that come to mind. They might have been covered by a large health insurance policy through their schooling while they were attending college but presently find themselves unsuitable for that coverage after they have graduated. Generally, short health insurance policies are available principally in 12 month increments. Nevertheless; there are some carriers that do offer 24 and 36 month policies. Also, nearly all short term health insurance policies won’t cover preexisting circumstances.
